Actor Charlie Sheen is in jail after being arrested on domestic violence charges.

The actor’s wife Brooke Mueller (pictured with Sheen) is believed to be the alleged victim in the dispute which erupted Christmas Day at a house in Aspen being rented by Mueller. Sheen, 43, has been spending most of his time on acting assignments in Los Angeles. He had flown to Aspen to spend Christmas with Mueller, who he married last year, together with their twin sons who were born this year.

Aspen Police were called to the home early Friday morning and the actor was arrested shirtly after, around 08:30am.

Sheen has been charged with second-degree assault, menacing and criminal mischief. He was taken into custody at the Pitkin County jail, where he will spend Christmas.

A bail application is likely to be made however the Court is closed for the Christmas break.

Sheen and Mueller became engaged in mid-2007 and married last year. Shortly after their engagement Mueller described Sheen as brilliant and captivating. “Charlie is brilliant and has the most captivating mind of anyone I know,” she said. “He makes me laugh all of the time, and his witty one-liners are relentless. He is simply charming.”
