Week 17 of the NFL Season Finally Settled NFC Playoff Brackets

The NFC Playoff brackets and schedule is set now. It took a while for the NFC Playoff brackets to be sorted out, but now the schedule is official and teams can plan for their opponents. Coming into the weekend the only thing that had been settled was the #1 seed in the NFC (New Orleans) and that the six teams heading to the playoffs were already decided. The seeding was still up in the air, and the final game of Philadelphia vs. Dallas still had to be played to decide the NFC East. Now that the Cowboys have shut out the Eagles, the NFC Playoff brackets are out and everyone can take a look at who they play.

The loss by the Eagles cost them the #2 seed as well as home field advantage in the first round, relegating them to the last seed in the playoffs and ensuring they will not play a home game during these playoffs. That loss gave the Dallas Cowboys the NFC East and the #3 seed, and it also gave Minnesota the #2 seed that they would have lost to Philadelphia if it had come down to tie-breakers. To make it worse for Philadelphia, they dropped into a wild card tie with Green Bay, but lose the tie-breaker to Green Bay because it comes down to the strength of opponents during the season. The first tie-breaker is head-to-head, but Green Bay and Philadelphia didn’t play this season, so it then went to conference records, but they were both 9-3 there.
