Randy Johnson Retiring? Retirement Announcement Expected From Big Unit

Randy Johnson, who won 303 games in a 22-year career and is second to Nolan Ryan in career strikeouts, is expected to announce his retirement during a conference call late Tuesday.

The five-time Cy Young Award winner turned 46 in September during an injury-marred season with the San Francisco Giants. He won his 300th game on a cold and rainy early-June afternoon in Washington, D.C., and was surrounded in the postgame celebration by his wife and children.

Temple University Owls Defeated at EagleBank Bowl Football – Media Newswire (press release)

(Media-Newswire.com) – UCLA defeated the Temple University Owls at the EagleBank Bowl Tuesday 30-21.  The UCLA team came from behind to beat Temple at the game held at RFK Stadium in Washington D.C.

UCLA was down 14 points and rallied to come back.  Quarterback Kevin Prince threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns to bolster the score for the California team.

Longtime sportscaster George Michael, best known as the host of the syndicated program, “The George Michael Sports Machine,” has died. He was 70.

Michael, who always had a confident and boisterous style while on the air, worked in radio and television for more than 40 years. He worked on the sports desk at the NBC affiliate in Washington, D.C., from 1980 to 2007.

Fox News host Sean Hannity apologized on his show Wednesday night after it was revealed by comedian Jon Stewart that the program had used archived footage of a well-attended rally and passed it off as a recent health care protest in Washington, D.C.
