MOVIE REVIEW – Reviews and rating for 2012 the movie have been mixed. 2012 movie reviews include  “a cheesy, ridiculous story” says USA Today that plays like a “video game”, states the Boston Globe.

On ratings, Rotten Tomatoes gives it 34%, Metacritic gives it 56, and Roger Ebert gives it 3.5 out of 4 stars Among 2012’s reviews are

USA Today Claudia Puig who says “The movie is an undeniable visual spectacle, but just as unequivocally a cheesy, ridiculous story”; Village Voice Chuck Wilson who writes “The two-hour-and-40-minute 2012 is overstuffed with special-effects, but the Curtis clan’s mad dash out of town is the closest the movie gets to actually being fun”; and the Miami Herald Rene Rodriguez says simply “The last 40 minutes test your patience — and intelligence — in a way the rest of this big, dumb, crazy movie never does.”

Boston Globe Ty Burr says it “play like a video game”, Los Angeles Times Kenneth Turan hates the screenplay with a “whimper of inept writing and characterization, and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Joe Williams calls it a “long, ludicrous soap opera is also a mighty spectacle, a new standard in disengaged destruction.”
