MLB Tim Lincecum Player Update
2 years back, the possibility of San Francisco Giants right-hander Tim Lincecum transitioning to the bullpen would certainly have been laughable. Going over four 13-plus-win seasons and two Cy Young Awards, the small power arm appeared predestined for a long, dominant career at the frontal end of San Francisco’s growing rotation.
But in the last two periods, the 28-year-old has looked like a different pitcher completely– and not simply as a result of a brand-new, carefully trimmed hairstyle. He published a 15-loss season and a 5.18 AGE in 2012, and Lincecum is well on his way to comparable varieties this year.
First, Lincecum is slated to become a freelance following the 2013 period, and there doesn’t seem to be any certainty the Giants will certainly choose to retain him or her, specifically if he completes this season hovering around the 5.00 TIME mark.
A lot more remarkably, however, it appears Lincecum isn’t concentrated on increasing his market price for the offseason. Relievers don’t normally warrant a huge payday on the free market, and it doesn’t make much feeling for the righty to telegraph his determination to make the change ahead of a brand-new agreement.
Still, there is most likely to be a bunch of groups in warm quest this winter season, and there’s no assurance Lincecum would in fact make the relocate to the bullpen for any of those teams.
But offered his comments on the prospective change– and his abysmal efficiency of late– it wouldn’t be much of a shock to see him or her in an arrangement duty at some point in the close to future.
